Selma 1926

Original Drawings finally FOUND !!!!!

Posted by selma1926 on March 23, 2011 at 4:50 PM

Life is full of surprises. Following a lovely trip to Paris (strictly business...), someone calls me this morning in the office.

"Mr RIMAUD?" says a profound voice with a strong American accent.

"Mr Troup, from Norske Veritas Oslo. I understand you are concerned with Selma, is that right?" My blood rushed to my head.

"Yes, Sir. I am looking for the original drawings. Would you have them, by any chance?"

"As a matter of fact I do, there are right in front of me."

Holy smokes! Finally.... after looking for them everywhere.

"That's great news, would you be in a position to make a copy and send them to me?"

"This may cost you dear, my friend. There is a handling fee of about 4,000... Norwegian Krone, which makes it... as there are two copies.... close to EUR900."

"That's ok, I can pay..." even if that's quite a sum for two pieces of paper...

"But sir, tell me, are you based in France?"

"As a matter of fact, I am"

"Well, this must be your lucky day..." What does it have to do with it?

"You see, I am a football fan and a Chelsea supporter, and there are quite a few French players in the Chelsea team.... so especially for you, I'm going to send you those copies absolutely free."

"This is great, very kind of you, I really appreciate."

"No problem"

"Where are you from, you do not sound very Norwegian."

"I'm actually from Chicago."

"City of Wind..."

"Yes, from windy Chicago."

"Are you a sailor?"

"No, I'm not. African Americans are not keen sailors."

"Well, thank you very much for that, sir."

"My pleasure."

"Have a great day and thank you for your email, I just got it."

"No problem."

"Thank you, Goodbye."

I immediately shot an email to Bruno with the headline 'Finally!'.

To which, he replied: "YES!".

Thank you, Mr Troup.

Small world. I also had great help and a nice conversation with Mark at Veritas. Didn't expect to encounter a Chicagoan in Norway when looking for records for the Oslo. A really nice guy, despite being a Chelsea fan (Go Bolton!).

Exactly the same experience!!! Got such a good help from him - and made me so happy... Got the originals in a 50MB blueprint pdf!
